Dear Diary,

I am so sorry I haven't written you in so long.  I have been so busy because I have a job and stuff.

I made this photograph before I moved here.  The image is a bit touristy but I don't mind today.  I was really into how the city looks, especially Brooklyn.  Still am.

I am constantly impressed with how space is occupied in cities.  Every last bit gets used up.  Many people complain about how there are too many people in New York City, the US, the World, and I am always a bit confused.  Isn't it great that we can live on top of each other?  The organization is so beautiful.

Hi there.  I started this blog because I am unemployed in Brooklyn.  I don't quite know what I'm going to do next, but I make photographs regardless of my situation.  I am going to post a new photograph at least every other day, maybe even more for your viewing pleasure.  I use medium and large format film.  There's just nothing else like it.  

Prior to my current situation, I had been working at traditional photography studios.  First as a master black and white printer in Boston and then as a retoucher in New York.  A retoucher with a real brush, none of those useful photoshop tools or anything.  If you need some ugly dust removed from your silver-gels with Spotone, I'm your girl.  I can paint in some noisy grain as  well as scratch it out with a tiny razor blade.  An almost completely useless skill set.  Sometimes I wish I weren't such a terrible waitress. 

So now, with abundance of the free time I make photographs, print cyanotypes, and obsessively read Craigslist ads for crappy aht jobs.  Most of the photos I post here will be available as a cyanotype print in my little shop at www.fadedgrey.etsy.com.  Does anyone care?  Probably not.
